OUR WEST COAST MISSION
Our West Coast Mission is one of Waggytail's biggest undertakings.
Done once annually, it's our biggest transport of the year and takes months of planning and coordination.
Follow our journey and learn how to support below.
Our Journey and Impact
From coordinating with Flight Angels, who chaperoned our Waggytails in-cabin, to organizing small groups of dogs flying cargo, every transport has been a labor of love. One of our most challenging feats is always coordinating the transport of a van full of homeless dogs from the West Coast all the way to New York City. Our small but mighty Waggytail team is always up for the challenge! Seeing the dogs arrive safe and sound, watching them transition from scared strays to beloved family members, is heartwarming and it’s fueled our determination to keep going. Each year, our transports become more efficient, organized, and successful!
We have rescued and transported over 500 West Coast Waggytails to date. Through our partnership with Born Again Animal Rescue in San Diego, and collaborations with many independent rescuers across Southern California and Mexico, we've given second chances to countless animals. Each time we clear space in a shelter or foster home, we make room for more pups in need.

The Financial Challenge & Why We Need Your Support
Saving lives comes with a cost. Each rescue dog requires veterinary care—including microchipping, spaying/neutering, core vaccinations, heartworm tests, and parvo/distemper screenings—which averages $150 per healthy animal. Dogs with medical conditions or injuries often require significantly more, and yet, we never turn them away.
Additionally, transporting each dog costs about $175. That’s why we are aiming to raise $20,000 to fund our 2025 West Coast Transport and continue giving at-risk dogs the second chance they deserve.
How You Can Help
We are aiming to raise $20,000 to fund our 2025 West Coast Transport. Your support can make all the difference. Here’s how you can help:
✅ Donate – Every dollar brings a pup closer to safety. No contribution is too small!
✅ Start a Fundraising Team – Rally your friends, family, or coworkers to raise funds together.
✅ Contribute to an Existing Team – Support others who are already fundraising.
✅ Spread the Word – Share our mission on social media and in your community. Tag @waggytailrescue and use #SaveAWaggytail to amplify our reach!

Ross (L), Benny (M), and Blue (R) were rescued this year after their owner passed away and left them without a home. They are patiently waiting for the 2025 Transport.
